THE LOVATO PROJECT was created in May 2013 by Sarah and Carla, two French Lovatics who admire Demi Lovato and all the positive things she represents. Specifically, they wanted to join Demi in her desire to make positive changes in the world, especially for children.

The girls were inspired to raise money for an organization who does this, Free the Children, by Demi and the Demi Lovato Charity Boutique (an online boutique that benefits the charity by selling items that are chosen from Demi's personal closet).

The collaboration between the girls and Demi Lovato Charity Boutique began in February 2013, when Sarah was asked to design a logo for the Boutique by Kerissa and Dianna (Demi's aunt and mother, the Boutique's executive directors).

Through this opportunity, Sarah discovered Free the Children, an international charity and educational partner who believes in a world where all young people are free to achieve their fullest potential as agents of change.

Sarah was so impressed with all that Free the Children does to empower young people to make a difference, that she became emboldened to find a way to help in her own way. She began by thinking of ways to raise money for Free the Children with other French Lovatics who wanted to support Demi's favorite charity but couldn't afford the clothes in the Boutique.

Sarah began the project on her own and decided on the name The Lovato Project. She soon realized that the twitter name she wanted, @LovatoProjectFR was being used by another Lovatic wanting to put something together for Demi's 21th birthday. Sarah decided to ask the person who owned the twitter account if she could use that twitter name for her idea and Louise, its owner, happily agreed.

Carla joined Sarah a few weeks later, The Lovato Project FR (France) was officially established.

They became acquainted and both believed in a French project in support of Demi so they agreed to join forces in creating a project of some kind for Demi. Together, they were even more determined and motivated to somehow make a difference.

Their first idea to raise money for Free the Children in Demi's name as a birthday present for her didn't materialize in time to make that happen.

They then decided to raise money until they reached $1000 to present to the charity in Demi's honor as a way of letting her know that she was making a difference by the example she was setting to her many fans.

The project is very important to Sarah and Carla. They are very enthusiastic and proud to be leading a project that will help families and children who are in desperate need of many things we take for granted every day such as clean water and an education. They are keenly aware that many of us have everything we need to survive yet there are others who have nothing, yet they still manage a smile of hope and appreciation.

That's why they want to make this project a worldwide charity movement and extend it around the world. The girls also want to support Demi and her family by helping to spread the word about an organization who has been making a difference for 18 years, Free the Children. They want to show Demi that they were listening when she said "TOGETHER, all of us are changing the world!"
